Where the name comes from
Petrichor — the scent of rain on dry earth.
Maati Saundhi is named for that particular smell — earth releasing what it has held onto through a dry season. It's the same instinct behind the workshops we source from: materials and techniques held and passed down, released one piece at a time.
We work with family workshops in small craft pockets across the country — not one region, but many — where skills move from one generation to the next rather than factories built to turn out volume. The result is furniture and objects meant to be bought once and kept for good — not replaced each season.
